The Mimosa C5x is the industry’s most versatile, integrated radio with four modular twist-on antenna options. The ultra-rugged solution provides extended frequency operation from 4.9–6.4 GHz, with best-in-class noise immunity. Delivering the ultimate in flexibility and cost efficiency, the C5x is the go-to PTP or PTMP solution for 5 GHz deployments.
Max PTMP/PTP IP Throughput
Supporting both PTP and PTMP modes, the entry level C5x can be easily enhanced through feature key upgrades. Out of the box, the C5x can be used as a PTMP client at Ethernet link speeds of 100 Mbps. With the purchase of a single feature key, you can easily increase client speeds up to 500 Mbps. For operation in PTP mode, a feature key purchased for each radio unlocks point-to-point speeds of up to 700 Mbps.
Encased in metal and leveraging custom-designed horn and Cassegrain antennas, the C5x reduces localized noise and provides immunity from interference with breakthrough front-to-back and front-to-side performance. Each antenna in the N5-X family is optimized to isolate noise with incredible sidelobe rejection.
To escape the noise, the C5x lets you take advantage of both 4.9 GHz public safety applications and licensed frequencies up to 6.4 GHz, where allowed by local regulations. The custom-designed N5-X modular antennas are specifically optimized for C5x extended frequency support.
The C5x, with its die-cast aluminum metal enclosure, dual-pole mounts and industrial-grade, twist-on antenna options, is optimized to reduce noise, withstand the outdoor elements and stay mounted in extreme weather.
Yes. You can use the base C5x 8 dBi radio without an antenna for short distance links. Please remove the locking screw from the twist-on screws to serve as a drain hole.
No. The PTP Feature key also enables the ethernet port to operate at 1000Base-T.
Yes. The PTP Feature Key essentially enables full operation of the C5x for PTP mode, 1000Base-T ethernet link speeds, and you can still use PTMP mode. The single software image allows you switch between modes using the GUI, with a reboot.
The speed is throttled by setting the ethernet port to 100Base-T. The radio can still operate at full MCS rates based on the signal strength. This allows the most efficient over the air transport to optimize spectrum efficiency.
No. You can add feature keys anytime during installation or later. This allows you to initially provide lower speeds, less than 100 and upgrade beyond 100 Mbps as customers bandwidth needs grow.
The new C5x software, version 2.5 and newer, is a single image for both PTP and PTMP modes. Once the PTP Feature Key is installed, you can toggle the link mode found in the Link Settings GUI page, requiring a reboot.
This depends on the antenna size and regulatory power settings. The C5x and all the N5-X antenna options are available in Mimosa’s Network Design Tool (NDT). It’s free and very easy to model a PTP link, give it a try at: https://design.mimosa.co/designtool/ndt
The modular C5x was designed to provide great prices for short and long distance PTMP links. The usable distance depends on AP antenna gain, C5x antenna gain and regulatory power settings. Yes, with one exception. The Fleximount works for the C5x and N5-X12, N5-X16 and N5-X20. The Fleximount is not strong enough to use with the C5x and the N5-X25.
